The Gold Coast means sun, sand, surf, and of course, fun - THEME PARKS!

There are 5 theme parks in GC including 2 water parks, we ended up skipping both water parks because the weather is much more colder than I expected (it was winter). But our new friends, a couple from Malaysia who have been living in Melbourne for 5 years enjoyed the water parks very much, they were very happy as there were no queue for the rides during winter - So it's completely vary from person to person.

Tip for visiting theme parks: Food is extremely expensive (as expected) and outside food is not allowed, but they don't really check the bags upon entry, so I'd recommend sneaking in some snacks and water to save your wallet. If they stop you, say it's for a specific dietary requirement. :p

| #4 MOVIE WORLD (Hollywood on the Gold Coast)

Warner Bros. Movie World is one of the three major theme parks in GC. If you have kids with you, this is the first theme park you have to include in your itinerary. The attractions and rides cater for all age groups, so there is something to do for everyone.

The park is very small, much smaller than USS, it is possible to have a few tours around the park in a day.
Famous DC superheros and Looney Tunes characters also patrol the park, allowing visitors the chance to take photos with them. Minor street shows like singing performances are also present.

We started of with Hollywood Stunt show, open for entrance after we entered the park. The stunt-drive by humorous drivers is something guys would find interesting and exciting, not to miss when you are there!

Superman Escape and Green Lantern coaster are the best! The speed is insane, everyone loved it. Try Scooby-Doo coaster too, you will be surprised. :)
Pity that the Arkham Asylum was closed when I was there, heard it's super thrilling too!

The highlight is the Street Star parade which showcases ALL the film and cartoon characters (including Batman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, The Joker, etc.) alongside vehicles and movie-themed floats. It starts at 3.30pm, be at the venue by 3pm for a good view.

And guess what, Tweety Bird gave me a hug and kiss when I shouted ILY to him! That just made my day <3

Opening hour: 930am-5pm
Address: Pacific Motorway, Oxenford

Tips #1: Loose items are not allowed on some rides, hiring a locker costs $2 per hour. Prepare small change.
Tips #2: The queue is shorter during and after parade as people are leaving.
Tips #3: Wild West Falls will get you wet, prepare a spare change of clothes or do this one at the end.

| #5 DREAMWORLD (Thrill rides!)

Dreamworld is the largest theme park in Australia, one day was not enough to explore everything.
It is literally the best choice for thrill seekers, known for the Big 9 Thrill Rides. Even though we did not get to experience all of them as some rides were closed for maintenance, we already got so tired of screaming our lungs out.

No worries if you are not an adventurous type of person, you will find joy at meet and great session with some photos taken with the Dreamworks characters (eg: Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda). They appear from time to time all day!

I am not terribly brave with it comes to these rides. This pendulum swing is a GIANT pirate boat plus 360 degree self spinning, it had me screaming, so much fun yet so scary that I couldn't feel my heart anymore. And I wonder how the angmos even young kids can STAY CALM like they were on a baby cradle lol.

We continued the day with Dreamworld Corroboree, it's a wildlife sanctuary where you can get up close with the animals - tigers, snakes, kangaroos, koalas & etc.

Introducing dingo, a wild canine found in Australia.

Also don't forget to cuddle little koalas, pet the kangaroos and grab a selfie with them.

Be careful when feeding kangaroos as they can get quite aggressive. I saw one grabbed the park map from a tourist and started CHEWING the paper, OH MY. How hungry are you boy?

Opening hour: 10am-5pm
Address: Dreamworld Parkway, Coomera

Note: Each ride has a storage place for you to put your belongings into, you don't need to rent a locker. Thumbs up for that.

| #6 SEA WORLD (Oceanarium theme park)

I don't really approve of circus and zoos.. but after the snorkeling day we couldn't bear with another cold day at water parks anymore so Seaworld it is.

Sea World is all about the conservation of the environment and wildlife through education, and the rescue and rehabilitation of sick and injured wildlife. Comprising a marine park, oceanarium and theme park, it is actually very huge and there's much more sea life to see than I expected.

There are a few shows that you wouldn't want to miss, get there early so you don't have to spend a lot of time in the long queue to get in and get good seats. Dolphins and sea lions are just lovely!

Opening hour: 9am-5pm
Address: Seaworld Drive, Main Beach

Note: If you wish to spend more than a day in Seaworld, there's an on-site theme park resort for you.
